Review I was taught to think before i act shirt
I think South African Apartheid left a more meaningful social legacy for Black South Africa than British/Rhodesian ‘assimilation’.
Assimilation taught you that if you act real good, tuck in your shirt, mind your Ps and Qs, you might eventually become a ‘white man’. Apartheid had no room for kaffirs besides the bottom rungs, and so it forced the blacks to look inside, to cherish their history and culture whereas the Rhodesian system taught you all things white were good and whiteness would solve all your problems.
